MEANING
O our hero, Fill us with your soul filling notes which drop like ambrosia from the flute kissed by your lips and the pitch, which heightens our spiritual ecstasy, dispel our sorrows and make us oblivious to every other allurement. Your enchanting sweet music is divinely intoxicating.

To take thoughts and ideas from others, there is nothing wrong with it, but not to acknowledge, would be Padma Chori (intellectual theft).

DAY 1
Bapu says that my katha is not just a ritual of knowledge( Gyaan yagna), but an occasion to spread love (Prem yagna). All the desires should be extinguished in this holy fire.

There should not be any kind of friction between the Scriptures (Shaastra) and also amongst the weapons (shastra).

Only Divine Love should be the base of all the aspiratory efforts of any aspirant .
Generally there are four ways of living:

• Principles-based (Neeti) life.
• Following the fixed rules in life ( Reeti).
• Life full of fear/insecurities (Bheeti)
• Life full of love for one and all (Preeti).

Gopis lived in the state of supreme love, but at the same time were fully conscious of their beloved’s preferences.
DAY 2
There is a danger of over possessiveness towards the beloved in the initial stage of love, but as love progresses towards divinity, it becomes selfless and infinite. Gopis’ love for Shri Krishna has reached this stage, therefore they ask Him to spread his love to one and all.

A mind full of complaints can never be spiritual. It may be religious. Bapu says that he expects his katha listeners to be free of complaints.

Q. If a Krishna devotee recites the shloka “Lokaabhiramam…” and “Manojavam…”,is it a drift from his faith (anyashraya) in Krishna ?

A. No, not at all. These shlokas are not just the glorifications of Bhagwan Ram and Hanumanji, but both these shlokas describe all the qualities of Shri Krishna as well. Therefore, Bapu says, that he starts even gopigeet katha with these shlokas.

A deed , however small is always greater than achieving success in a deed full of malice .

It is important that the equality should be there in mind, but it is not practical to have equality in behaviour all the time.

One can survive only with ‘Hari naam’ (God’s holy name) in the period of Crisis, Conflict and Crowds.

“Shri Radhey Govind bhaj mana Shri Radhey……”

DAY 3
Even if we are full of faults, but the supreme beloved whom we adorably worship should be absolutely pure and free of all the negative elements. This kind of alliance between the two, transforms desire into devotion and attachment into reverence.

The discussion of the element (Tatva) in the Vedas is sometimes dry, but the divine love is a supreme element in itself, that creates ‘rasa’ all around. The Vedas describe the Lord as the omnipresent. But in case of divine love, it is an association between the two, the aspirant and the beloved.

Do not see your shortcomings all the time and also never have any kind of negativity towards others.

There are 8 kinds of bindings for an aspirant.

• Hatred
• Doubt
• Fear
• Pessimism
• Pride of family traditions
• Pride of financial status
• Reserved ness
• Over-cultured ness

In the shloka, the word ‘surat’ depicts five aspects

1. Love
2. Facial beauty
3. Enthusiasm
4. Particular season
5. Faith

Due to Shri Krishna’s fondness for gopikas, their love got exhilarated towards Him. Their faces blossomed with glow. Their devotion ascended day by day. The season of veneration became stationary in their lives. They were established with firm faith in His lotus feet.

“Hare Krishna..Hare Krishna…”

DAY 4
There is a question from an aspirant ie.Inspite of making conscious efforts to be away from scorn (ninda), we inadvertently become critical of people. What can be done about this ?

Answer- it is observed that a human being made up of five natural elements (fire, water, air, sky, earth) gets influenced by such faults at some time or other during one’s lifetime. Even in incarnated form of the Lord, this trait is seen.

There are mainly two reasons due to which a person becomes scornful

• Grief (Dukh)
• Hatred (Dwesh)

Criticism based on grief and concern (Like mother’s towards child and Guru’s towards Shishya’s welfare) is not so harmful: whereas criticism based on hatred leads to revengeful behaviour and leads to downfall. Although both should be avoided but the latter is very dangerous, it is an obstacle for entering into a spiritual sphere.

These kinds of negative inclinations can only be avoided or treated by the consciousness arisen through katha or any other kind of satsang.

A katha listener by doing regular satsang should develop the following qualities:

• Sumati- Positive intellect
• Suseel- Ideal behaviour
• Suchi – Purity
• Rasik – Constant love for katha
• Das - Surrender

There are 7 features of Divine love:

1. Inspite of having all the logical reasons to break away from the beloved, the love remains unaffected.
2. The stone-heartedness gets melted into a heart full of tenderness.
3. There is a feeling of possessiveness towards the beloved, but this feeling does not lead to consequent sorrow.
4. In case of observing certain short-comings in the beloved, there is a stronger feeling of taking care of him.
5. There is a continuous escalation of ‘rasa’(essence of love)
6. The mind should be totally free of all kinds of complaints. In Bapu’s words, “Don’t complain, become complete.”
7. The beloved and the aspirant become one in unisome, not physically, but by the way of unified thoughts and soul.

In Vishnu puraan Bhagwaan Krishna was asked, “Why was Raas created ?” Shri Krishna answered that He wanted to make his stage of adolescence(as in human form) worthy of its nature. Other reasons for “raas” that he mentioned are:

• Nature of Divinity (Dev dharma)- To authenticate the promise of raas made by Brahma to Gopis.
• Nature of Humanity (Manushya dharma)- To lead a complete life as a human being by involving self into music, leisure, peace; not just limiting oneself to earning livelihood.
• Nature of Knowledge ( Gyaan dharma)- To prove His freedom from all the do’s and don’t’s rightly (self-determination).
• Nature of the Lord (Bhagwat dharma)- To satisfy all the devotees’ preferences.
• Nature of the essence of love ( Rasa dharma)- ‘Raas’ is the conglomeration of all the ‘rasas’.

DAY 5
A human being due to his ego first loses the valuable aspects in life and later on realizing his mistakes, he starts searching the lost vistas. This search is a good sign provided it is full of purity and divinity.

Supreme love is free of many elements. It cannot be attained by principles, penance, meditation, good deeds or by serving others. In fact this divine love gets veiled by the above mentioned efforts; though it can never be destroyed. Then the question is how to attain this supreme love? According to Ramcharitmanas, only when delusion is displaced from one’s life, this kind of love can be established.

Delusion can only be displaced through satsang and satsang is not just being a part of a religious discourse but has a wider meaning. It is a way of life led with complete sincerity and commitment to honesty.

To generate supreme love, both the gesture and the intention behind one’s endeavor should be pure.

According to a Sanskrit book, ‘Prem-pattanam’,path of divine love is strange and unique(sometimes in contrast with the worldly beliefs). A person, who takes up this journey, only desires the love of his beloved. His worldly desires are dissolved in this process. This attachment for the beloved is a kind of detachment from the material world.

Gopi's pain (shok) of separation from their beloved Krishna ended in recital (shloka) of gopigeet. However, in contrast sometimes obsession with shlokas (shastra vaasana) becomes a pain (shok).

Sorrow of human beings is based on the past happenings. Delusion influences the present and fear engulfs the future.

Sorrow (shok) originates mainly due to lack of following.

• Favorite things (Vastu).
• Money (Vasu).
• Material possessions (Vishaya).
• Pleasant exchange of thoughts (Vaarta).
• Discretion (Vivek).

Krishna was the centre of all these above in the lives of gopis. In Bapu’s words “All in one”. Therefore, in this shloka, they are requesting him to disseminate his love to eliminate their sorrow and to completely detach them from this material world.

“Shri radhey govind bhaj mana shri radhey…”

DAY 6
Every shloka of gopigeet depicts the particular mindsets of different gopis. To experience delight in one’s life, it is necessary to go through the process of distress. Like in Bhagwad Gita, Arjun passes through various stages of anxiety and finally is free of any kind of delusion. Distress is the father of delight; similarly certain types of resolutions (sankalp) give birth to desire.

Question- If gopis are able to attain all the 7 features of divine love, then why do they desire certain favours from Shri Krishna ?

Answer- It is important to understand that like an ocean is self-contained in itself, it is free from all the bindings. Similarly, gopis are epitome of supreme love and they are free from all the desires of worldly pleasure, still their behaviour is just to enlighten ordinary people like us.

Shri Krishna has produced such inclinations in gopis in order to materialize the “Raas”. Raas is a union between two absolutes (poorna) or can also be said as union between two voids (shoonya).

In this shloka gopis are requesting Shri Krishna for four things.

1. They pray their affection to grow with each passing day.
2. They pray that their sorrow of separation from their beloved ends.
3. They pray that Only Shri Krishna should remain their centre of love forever.
4. They pray that as they receive Bhagwan Krishna’s affection, they are able to spread this love amongst all.

This can also be a definition of eternal love. This love develops continuously, it destroys all the sorrows, it is devoted only towards one, and it makes an individual large-hearted, so as to distribute happiness to one and all.

Gopis are calling to Krishna saying that only His love makes them forget all the material attachments (raag). Though it is difficult to destroy them, because these worldly attachments are facets of basic human weaknesses. But it is a boon to forget them in human lifetime.

When one conditions the mind with a belief that every thing happens for the best, one can never ever experience remorse. Only two things can help in this kind of mind-conditioning- Satsang and God’s grace.

An aspirant’s efforts (saadhana) should never be in contrast with nature. It is a torture to self and others to go against the basic nature created by the Lord.

“ Hare Krishna Hare Krishna ……”

DAY 7
There is a difference between the attitudes of Vyas ji and Shukdev ji. Vyas ji’s chase was for a person (Vyakti ie.Shukdev), but Shukdev ji’s chase was for a thought (Vichar ie.devotion). Vyas ji’s cerebration was for his son, Shukdev ji’s for Shri Krishna. Bapu says that he is more inclined towards the reverie of Shukdev ji.

Desire (Kama) is not just referred to physical attraction, but also attraction of following kind:

• Desire of wealth (Arth kama)
• Desire of performing rituals (Dharma kama)
• Desire of salvation (Moksha kama)

There are some significant features of “Raas lila”.

• Shri Krishna invited gopis at night by playing flute. Flute depicts a void, indicating that the instrument used in Raas was free of all aberration. Its life was only filled with Bhagwan Krishna’s breath.
• The call was also free of any malice as all the physical inclinations were burnt in the fire of divine love.
• The call was made for each gopi in particular and they all responded to it individually. Each of them rushed on their own. The spiritual path is a way of solitude; one has to be completely away from the crowds. There cannot be any seminars (sammelan) on love, but only an intimate alliance (milan) between the two-the beloved and the aspirant.
• In this journey, there is only one goal ie. The beloved. Gopis were solely dedicated to Shri Krishna.

The one, who understands and uses every fraction of time (kshana) in the best possible way, can never be dominated by the fractional materialism (kshana-bhangurta) of this world.

In Bapu’s words, “ A young person who gets engulfed in delusion, gets hung..”

“ Bhaja mana Shri Radhey….”
