Taat sunahu saadar manu laai | Kahaun ram kai katha suhaai ||
maha-mohu mahishesu bisaala | Raamkatha kaalika karaala ||
 
Meaning:
Listen then, my friend, with full attention while I narrate the glorious katha (story) of Bhagwaan Ram. Appaling ignorance is the gigantic demon Mahishasura (so called because he was endowed with the form of buffalo); while the narrative of Bhagwaan Ram is the fearsome Kalika (to slay the demons)
